Wadi Adai, a short but stunning hike in Muscat

This was a surprise - you drive to this really old neighborhood, through very narrow streets, park next to a cemetery and start walking towards the mountains while thinking it cannot be anything special here since it is so close the city, right? Well, as it turned out, I was wrong! Shortly after we left the houses behind, we found ourselves in this fun wadi, with beautiful boulders, rock formations and fossils. If you need a quick hiking fix and you do not have much time, this is your perfect spot! There are dots and arrows to mark the route, but it is mostly straightforward as you follow the wadi.

Note, there are multiple forks to this wadi, for the narrow section with the nice boulders you have to take the middle one. We also ventured into the first left fork (left while walking in) but that seemed much less fun.

There is an interesting cemetery next to the parking, a Baluch cemetery, you can see the tombs over the fence.

Location to park23.584400, 58.515200 . You will drive through very narrow streets but once you get through you can park comfortably.
Rough start of the fork with nice boulders: 23.579217, 58.511549
Our turning back point23.574872, 58.506526
Wikiloc trail - he hiked further than us.
Car: salon car is ok
Kids: the big boulders are probably not the best for toddlers, the first left fork is more mellow
Summer friendly, since it is short and narrow, it stays in the shadow.
Time and distance: the round trip was around 4km and it took us 2 hours
