Ghala flags hike (Jabal Heed)
Muscat is full of great hikes - and the Bousher / Ghala area has the best routes. This hike is one of the classics - offers great views of the city and the coastline, it is in the middle of the city and it is relatively easy. It is not marked but there are arrows and dots to show the right way. The summit is marked with flags - quite a sight! As there is no shade, it is best to do the hike early morning or late afternoon and in the cooler months. It is quite steep at the beginning but taking it easy anyone can do it!
Location for parking: 23.5296, 58.3848
Round trip takes around 1.5-2 hours. Take water and a bag to pick up trash on the way down - unfortunately people tend to throw their bottles. There is no shade, so not suitable for warmer months or periods. The beginning is a bit steep, would not recommend for toddlers.
The number of flags are increasing ! (2023 Feb)
