Duqum Rock Garden

The Duqum Rock Garden is a very unique sight for anyone interested in fossils. The special rock formations are believed to be 46-million-year-old - no matter where you look, you are bound to find fossils in sort of size and shape. We visited in 2016 May and it was super hot, so we did not hike around a lot - however, if you are planning to visit Salalah during the winter, it is a great stop over-candidate (you can read about our stops here during our 2020 winter holiday trip).

If you want to properly explore the area, you will need to reserve a few hours maybe even a half day. You will also need to apply for permit to visit the sight - you can do it online here apparently (we did not try to use it and if the link does not work search google, government pages tend to change location time to time).
