Muttrah geotrek

There are couple of easy hiking routes around Muscat and the Muttrah Geotrek is one of the most popular ones. It takes around 1.5 hours to complete, provides great views and within a few minutes you feel you are in the middle of nowhere while the city center is basically right there, on the other side of the hills.

Location for parking for the classic route is here Start walking towards the houses, you will see the usual tricolor flag and the steps leading up around here 23.6198,58.5760 

You can also start in Old Muscat - the trail will eventually link to the classic trail. If you want a shorter hike you can go back towards the park or for a longer one you can continue towards cemetery.

UPDTAE 2024. December: as the cable car construction started, it seems that the path is closed. Also I read that the path leading to Old Muscat is gone. I really hope that once the construction is done the path will be re-established, but only time will tell. 

Here are some pictures from February 2022 - the wadi was full of flowers and greenery due to low temperatures and rain.
