Jabal Akhdar, Hotel Anantara

Jabal al Akhdar is the Green Mountain of Oman - well, certainly not Switzerland-green, but quite green for sure. Also high, over 2000m which means climate is very nice and temperature is easily 10-15 degrees lower during summer. Locals are farming here, pomegranates are particularly famous.

We stayed 2 nights in Hotel Anantara, a luxury resort. Hotels just opened recently and clearly they took a hit due to COVID and now they try to attract locals and residents with great deals - we took advantage of this and booked a canyon view villa. The villa is a 188 sqm one bedroom + living room apartment with a deck and private pool overlooking the canyon. It is simply breathtaking. It comes with his and hers walk in closet, a spa-like bathroom and a king size bed. It is really special. 

Jabal al Akhdar is a great hiking destination as well, the only downside is that not many routes are marked. This time though we wanted to enjoy the room (even with massive discount price was hefty and most likely we will not be back, not to this room at least) and did not do hiking, just a bit of off-roading. It is on our list to come back for camping and hiking!
